One Easter when I was 8 years old, my aunt and I was decorating Easter eggs and she told me that I should be a jeweler and make Faberge eggs. From that point I knew God had put me here to do jewelry work.
After graduating from NISH in 1994, I attended Natchitoches Technical College for 2 yea rs and received my Degree in Jewelry Technology.
I began working at Wilson Jewelers in Lafayette. I then took on trade-shop work for 15 jewelry stores working from home.
After losing some of my trade shop accounts, I decided to open my own business. I invested ALL the money I had to open my store, The Jewelry Doctor.
While growing my new business, I was still doing trade-shop work. I began to explore in the real estate world and purchased multiple rental properties.
Opportunity came to purchase a commercial property, so I relocated the store and renamed it Harold Edward Fine Jewelry because many people didn't know that I also sold jewelry.
Cut actually means two things: the shape of the diamond ( Round, Marquise, Pearl, Oval, Emerald, Heart, Princess, Radiant, etc. ) and the proportions of the stone. The better the cut the greater the sparkle, brilliance, and the fire of the stone.
Diamonds are graded on a color scale that ranges from “D” ( Colorless ) to “Z” ( Yellow/Brown ).
Almost all diamonds contain internal and external characteristics called inclsions and blemishes. Some are so small they require great skill and time to locate. The number, location, visibility, and color of inclusions determine a diamond’s clarity and value.
The weight or size of a diamond is measured in carats. Carat weight is the most obvious factor in determining a diamonds value, depending on the cut, clarity and color..
A diamond certification from EGL & GIA USA means your diamond has been evaluated by a distinguished team of gemologists using state-of-the-art computer technology to assure you the most accurate assessment of the diamond you are buying.
